By: Admin

While many mothers worry about low breast milk supplies, some mothers concerned about having an oversupply of milk. Having an overfull breast can make feedings stressful and uncomfortable for both mother and baby.

There are some tips that can help you with over supply of milk.

  1. You can breastfeed on one side for each feeding. Continue to offer that same side for at least two hours.
  2. If the other breast feels uncomfortably full before you are ready to breastfeed on it, hand express for a few moments to relieve some of the pressure. Use cold wash cloth to reduce some of the swelling.
  3. Feed the baby more frequently so he/she won't suck on the breast too hard.
  4. Lie on your side to feed and burp the baby if he/she is gassy.
