The bomb for breastfeeding moms September 8, 2007 Hates Housework (Bay Area, California USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Despite the assurances of lactation consultants that breastfeeding shouldn't be painful if done correctly, it's excruciating for most women at first - especially if your skin is prone to drying or bruising. Getting through the initial frustration is tough, but this product can make a HUGE difference. It may seem a bit pricey but you use a tiny amount and I'd have paid far more for the relief it provides.
Couldn't have breastfed without it! July 14, 2005 Jessica L. Cappell (Hemlock, MI USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This cream was a lifesaver for me. A friend of mine recommended it while I was still pregnant, so I bought some before my son was born and took it with me to the hospital. This cream was what got me through the first 2 weeks (the most crucial time) of breastfeeding. My nipples were so sore, but this cream really helped and I didn't have to worry about washing it off before my son nursed. The more I used it the better I felt, it is a MUST for new moms who are planning on nursing.
The BEST for breastfeeding moms February 25, 2008 Laurie Gonzalez Milliron (Former NYCer turned New Englander) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I think that this is the best and most helpful product for nursing moms. Nursing moms don't really need much to nurse. It's just them and baby. If you decide to forgo other nursing luxuries like nursing pillows and covers, stools, rockers, fancy nursing bras, etc., don't go without this lanolin. This is what has seen me through. This is what kept me nursing in those rough days in the beginning. I have used this with three of my children. I wish I had it for my first, but I had not discovered it yet. It may have kept me going a little longer. This is an absolute necessity for nursing moms. One tube will last you through weaning. A very little bit of this goes a long way. It is safe to latch baby on after an application, too. I cannot endorse this product enough. I also use this for everything. If one of the kids or I have a cut or scrape I apply this and it heals so quickly. I also use this for chapped lips in the winter and I can tell you there is nothing else like it. This is my #1 product that I could not do without as far as breastfeeding items go. HIGHLY recommended.
great for other things, too August 30, 2008 A. Frank (SEATTLE, Washington USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My baby is four and I just bought more of this! He's not still nursing- this product is the only one that cures my cracked heels. I work out doors in all kinds of weather and just about every foot ointment I've tried was a waste of money. This stuff doesn't just disappear, but penetrates and stays put all day.
AS for nursing- I didn't intend to use this or any lanolin product, becuase I have long time allergies to wool-alcohols and products containing lanolin. Still we came home from the hospital with many samples and soon enough I was desperate enough to try it. All the 100% lanolin nursing products seem to be of a high purity grade and didn't bother me at all- they are considered digestible. Its stickiness is what makes it great for nursing, because, unlike petroleum, it lubricates throughout a feeding and doesn't just rub off on your clothes. My kid seemed to have an especially sensitive and rash prone behind . This product healed a few awful sores when nothing else worked. While some general use lanolin products are reputed to smell bad, this one is odorless. Still, I mix it with some essential oils for use on my feet, just because I like to. Of all similar products, I found this brand to be the least expensive.
Great for Mom and Baby November 8, 2007 K. McGowan (South Attleboro, MA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I used this for myself while nursing my babies. When the soreness begins it soothes the skin and takes the soreness away overnight. I also use it for my childrens' chapped cheeks and lips. My children have extremely dry skin and eczema and Lansinoh is very soothing to irritated skin. It can be used anywhere on the body. It is nice and thick and mild, and it doesn't burn or further irritate the skin and has no perfume. It is definitely worth the price. A little bit goes a long way.
