5 out of 5 stars I wanted wooden but ended up loving this plastic contraption.   September 27, 2008

I searched and searched and searched for an alternative to a big, plastic, cartoon-themed high chair but kept coming back to the supreme quality and functionality of the Fisher Price Rainforest Highchair. And, you can't beat the price for something that will be plastered with mushed food.

I pined away for a Tripp Trapp or Svan wooden high chairs because of their lovely design qualities but kept coming back to the reality that my 6-month old needed a tray and more support than those chairs could offer. Plus, I wasn't really ready to spend $300 just so it would look good in my dining room.

So, I told myself to just suck it up and buy the ugly one. It was an easier decision when I vowed to myself that I would upgrade to a European wooden chair when she was more ready to eat at a table with us. I was burned before on a infant bouncer/rocker that had high design and a high price but proved to be useless in the end. It looked damn good, but our baby hated it.

What sold me on the FP Rainforest model was:
-Baby Bargain's review
-5 point harness
-Crotch bar so they can't slide out when you're unbuckling them
-Tray can be nestled up close when they are sitting so the food doesn't slide into their lap
-Tray liner that can be put in dishwasher
-Straps that can be put in dishwasher
-Seat cover that can be pretty much hosed down

The only thing that bugs me about the chair is that the brakes on each wheel are always getting bumped and thus put into the locked position accidentally. But, all in all, it's not a big deal at all.

And, as for the cartoon theme and colors I dreaded? It's really not that bad. honestly, and it could be worse. I could be numb to these things now though ... I do have an exersaucer in my living room, so what was I worried about?

[...]

Other chairs I seriously considered:
-Stokke Tripp Trapp
-Chicco Polly

BUY this high chair and stop worrying about the style. Think function, function, function when it comes to something you will be using several times a day, every day for many, many days to come.

5 out of 5 stars It works!   April 16, 2007

How much can you write about a high chair? My daughter fits in the seat. It looks comfortable, though I haven't tried it myself yet.

The tray goes on and off fairly easy with one hand. Looking at the hardware though doesn't give me much confidence this will last more than one child.

The tray insert works well and makes clean up much easier. Would be nice if they included 2 inserts, but I guess just having one makes sure I clean it sooner.

My daughter loves the toy that attaches to the tray. It really helps keep her amused while we prep her food and she goes out of her way to hunt it down when she's just playing and not in the seat.

Assembly was fairly easy and the instructions were clear. I was amazed they were able to break this down into as many parts as they did. If you liked Erector Sets as a kid you'll like putting this together. It took about 30 minutes and hardly any foul language.

Well the first chair I bought was a Graco Harmony 2 years ago (the pooh one from walmart) Though over all I was very pleased with it I was disapointed to realize LATER that the one handed tray release did not work properly. I really loved that chair but between the tray not working (you could still use 2 hands)& it not wanting to slide all the way up to our table (the legs are close to the end) unless I removed the infant bar (but had to put it back each time to use the tray) being pregnany with number 2 I decided to look for a new one.

I looked around a bit & found this chair at target... I LOVED the design & $100 wasn't too bad, but more then the $75 I had spent on the Graco... I was pleased to find one used on Craigslist for $50... it was only a month old but they just didn't have room for it in their tiny apartment. I brought it home & my son LOVES it!!!! Some of the great features...

*Easy to adjust & remove harness system (also all ATTACHED... so you can loose on of 5 straps!)
*Bigger wheels, which can even roll on carpet!
*A very popular toy that is easier to use then the previous model aquarium one
*SUPER Easy to fold & very compact to store!!! Fits in out linen closet when not in use! Legs folded, seat at low position its ABOUT 3-3.5" tall & only about 18" wide... MUCH smaller then others.
*Very light weight & a slightly smaller straightline frame... easier for moving around the house
*7 GREAT height adjustments & super easy to change them!
*slimmer design & adjustable height allow it to slid up to most tables & counters

The best part... my 18 month old LOVES the fact that when its lowered to the lowest height he can climb into it himself!!!! He loves being a big boy.

This is totally worth the $100 bucks new, I would recommend it to anyone!

We just got this highchair for our infant son. It is amazing! Much nicer than the prima pappa highchair we had for our daughter 2 years ago. The seat is so colorful and the toy is great, really handy when you are cooking or need to entertain baby in a secure place. VERY easy to clean and the price can't be beat! Babies R Us seems to be the only store to have it in stock right now. I highly recommend it!

I love this high chair. It is really easy to clean and my baby loves the bright colors. It comes with two toys, a teething toy and a rainforest multi-sound tree. The teething toy is heavy and can be a hazard if you little one likes to wave it around like mine. The tree is wonderful and keeps her interest while I get things ready/clean up. I use it on a hardwood floor and it rolls very easily. The tray sometimes doesn't lock into place, so you have to double check it. All in all, a great chair for baby.
